IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Shazam Star Zachary Levi Expresses Confidence in DCU Future Amid Recast Reports
Amid his recasting rumors, Levi managed to bring into conversation his sentiments on Henry Cavill and Dwayne Johnson’s DC exits during his Instagram Live. While the Shazam! actor was trying to calm and reassure DC fans of the future DCU, he subtly brings up his lost chance of ever working with the Man of Steel and Black Adam actors.
“Everyone, just take a breath. I know we’ve seen some characters, some actors that are taking an exit.” Levi says, “That’s difficult [even for me], you know what I mean? I was hoping I got to work with a lot of these folks. But it’s just not the way it’s going to go down right now.”
Many can easily relate to his sentiments. Watching Gunn bluntly take out Wonder Woman 3, Man of Steel 2, and any potential Black Adam sequel is a huge blow to the guts, considering that many have been expecting that the new DC would know better. However, Levi took the opportunity to tell fans that he has worked with the guy for years and the advantage of knowing the comic books storylines is a huge plus.
The most we can really do now is wait for everything to unfold. While Johnson did make his DC exit, Gunn did imply he would be very much willing to collaborate again in the future. There’s a slight chance these characters are simply being shelved for now, with a different priority in line.
For now, you can expect Zachary Levi to reprise his role in Shazam! Fury of the Gods this coming March 17, 2023.
