Who Does Christina Ricci Play on Wednesday?

In the first episode of Wednesday, we instantly meet Ricci’s character as Mrs. Marilyn Thornhill, Wednesday’s only “normie” teacher at Nevermore Academy. The term “normie” is referred to as a normal person since Nevermore Academy is a school for outcasts like vampires, weirdos, werewolves, or anything of the sort. As a teacher, Mrs. Thornhill teaches botanical sciences. She also acts as the school’s “dorm mom.” Ricci’s role is actually an Easter egg from The Munsters, the rival series of The Addams Family. The “normie” of the family was named Marilyn too.

What Is the Connection Between Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday?

If you haven’t watched Wednesday yet, you should stop reading at this point. This section contains Wednesday spoilers so be warned. When fans first learned that Ricci will be joining the cast of the show, many secretly wished that she would be reprise her iconic role as a time-traveling Wednesday Addams that will guide the new actress. Or perhaps she’s another Wednesday Addams from another multiverse. Maybe even Aunt Ophelia, who once graced the old TV series. But unfortunately, Mrs. Thornhill is none of those things.

In Wednesday, Mrs. Thornhill tries to befriend Wednesday when no one else attempts to. And her real identity actually gets revealed as someone that Wednesday’s parents went to school with. Later in the season, the true identity of Ricci’s character is revealed. And as it turns out, she’s the show’s antagonist who either dies or lives in the end, depending if her role will be reprised if a second season is confirmed. We’re not giving out too much information on Mrs. Thornhill so you can watch the show to see what happens. RELATED: Christina Ricci Expresses Personal Connection To Netflix’s Wednesday
