With Netflix’s success in South Korean movies and TV shows, it’s no surprise why the streaming giant is continuing its streak. 2022 is definitely another important year for K-Dramas on Netflix and Seoul Vibe gives us a pretty big reason why. Here’s everything you need to know about Seoul Vibe’s release.

When is Seoul Vibe Release Date?

During the summer, Netflix announced some of its new releases. At the time of the announcement, Seoul Vibe only got a summer 2022 release date so it was unclear when the movie would be available. The good news is that you don’t have to wait too long for Netflix to drop Seoul Vibe. The film is slated for a global release on August 26. The BBFC has rated the movie as a 15, which means that it is “Suitable for ages 15 and up.”  When the movie gets released, you can watch it for a total of 138 minutes. The Korean crime drama was created by Kwon Oh-Hyun and John Yoo. It was produced by Andmarq Productions and co-produced by UAA and MCMC. Filming started in August 2021 and lasted just a few months later. Ever since then, the movie has been in the post-production stage.

Seoul Vibe Story: What Is It About?

The official synopsis of the movie, according to Netflix, is: “Worldwide excitement is escalating in Seoul in the days leading up to the opening of the 1988 Summer Olympics. The fashion is old school, the music is sentimental and the racing is the best in the world. The drivers of the Sanggye-dong Supreme Team receive an offer they can’t refuse and become mired in a VIP slush fund investigation.” Seoul Vibe takes us back to 1988, during the Seoul Olympic Games, where a car chase takes place in Seoul’s streets. A group of car enthusiasts, known as Sanggye-dong Supreme Team, come together to break the corruption involving a local crime organization. They discover some money laundering activity in the week before the Summer Olympic games start. Think of the movie as a Korean version of Baby Driver but with nostalgic music and retro-style vehicles. Not to mention, the racing is world-class.
