Fortunately, returning cast members/characters have already been confirmed for The Mandalorian Season 3, so we will go through each and every one of them. However, there’s always the chance of a surprise cameo too. Before we reveal the full list of characters returning to the fold, you can check out the official teaser trailer for the upcoming The Mandalorian Season 3 below:
As teased in both The Mandalorian Season 2 finale “Chapter 16: The Rescue” and The Book of Boba Fett’s “The Return of the Mandalorian”, the trailer teases a return to Din Djarin’s home planet of Mandalore. There, he must prove himself worthy of becoming a true Mandalorian once more, having disgraced his people by removing his helmet on a number of occasions. But obviously, it won’t be that easy. Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) will be returning, and we know that she’s after the Darksaber, which can only be won from Din Djarin through combat. But whether or not she’s willing to use Grogu to her advantage remains to be seen.
So, as you’ve already seen, Din Djarin/The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) himself, will, of course, be returning for the third season, along with Grogu, having rescued - or re-rescued - him in The Book of Boba Fett (2021). And then there’s Bo-Katan Kryze, with Katee Sackhoff reprising her role. This time, though, it looks like she might be turning to the “dark side” in order to get her hands on the Darksaber so that she can rule over Mandalore. Though they’re nowhere to be seen in the trailer, other confirmed characters are Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), The Armorer (Emily Swallow), Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris), and Dr. Pershing (Omid Abtahi).
The Mandalorian Season 3 will also be welcoming two new faces in Tim Meadows and Christopher Lloyd. Yes, the Christopher Lloyd, best known for playing Doc Emmett Brown in the Back to the Future movies! Both roles are undisclosed, and neither actor appears in the trailer, so we’ll just have to wait and see if they turn out to be heroes or villains. As for whether any other established characters will be returning also remains to be seen. Nevertheless, it’s fun to hazard a guess. First of all, it’s best we address the Bantha in the room - Gina Carano will not be returning as Cara Dune, having been fired by Disney and Lucasfilm in 2021 for sharing controversial tweets.
It’s entirely possible that Temuera Morrison will reprise his role in the upcoming season. After all, it would seem that these two bounty hunters can’t exist without one another, having already appeared in each other’s shows. It would also be great to see Rosario Dawson return as Ahsoka Tano, having done so in The Mandalorian Season 2 and The Book of Boba Fett. Either way, we’ll be seeing her next year in her own live-action series Ahsoka (2023). As for Luke Skywalker, while it’s unlikely, never say never. We like to think that Grogu’s journey with the Jedi is far from over (it barely even begun) - otherwise, what has been the point in any of it?
The Mandalorian Season 3 will star Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin/The Mandalorian), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon), Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan Kryze), Emily Swallow (The Armorer), Omid Abtahi (Dr. Pershing), Amy Sedaris (Peli Motto), and Tim Meadows and Christopher Lloyd in undisclosed roles. The Mandalorian Season 3 will premiere on Disney+ in February 2023. Other live-action Star Wars shows such as The Book of Boba Fett (2021), Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022), the first two seasons of The Mandalorian (2019), and the brand-new series Andor (2022) are currently available to stream on Disney+.
