Deadline reports that the Joker sequel is scheduled to open in theaters on October 4, 2024. According to the report, the production of the film will start later in December. It has already been confirmed that Todd Phillips will return to direct and Joaquin Phoenix will back as well.
We already heard a lot of speculations about the sequel. For instance, it has been reported that Phoenix is earning $20 million to reprise his role as Arthur Fleck in Joker 2. In addition to that, it is believed that Lady Gaga is currently in talks to play Harley Quinn. Perhaps the strangest rumor we’ve heard about the upcoming sequel is that it is being planned as a musical.
We’re loving the idea that the sequel is being called Joker: Folie À Deux and that the wait for the film isn’t that long at all. For now, there haven’t been any details about the plot but we’re hoping that we’ll be getting some updates in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
The Joker: Folie À Deux announcement comes shortly after it was revealed that Warner Bros. has pulled the plug on Batgirl, the HBO Max film starring Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon. Since the announcement, people have been lashing out at the studio for cancelling a highly anticipated project. However, Joker 2 might just be enough for Warner Bros. to regain the love of DC fans across the globe.
Joker: Folie À Deux is scheduled for theatrical release on October 24, 2024.
