Fans showed overwhelming support for the first and second Venom films released in 2018 and 2021, so a third movie was a no-brainer. The first Venom film introduced us to three symbiote friends who took a trip to Earth, eventually deciding to invade the planet. Eddie Brock, a reporter with a failing career, bonded with the symbiote Venom, and together, they took down the organization responsible for bringing the symbiote. In the second movie, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, we see two new supervillains (Carnage and Shriek) out to destroy Brock and Venom. Venom wins but the ending of the movie shows another potential villain. During the closing scenes, we see Brock and Venom talking about alternate universes before being whisked away to another dimension where J. Jonah Jameson is busy revealing the identity of Spider-Man. Let There Be Carnage has set the stage and tone for the next movie, so here is everything we know so far about Venom 3.

Venom 3 Release Date: When Will the Movie Come Out?

There is no release date yet for Venom 3. Sony officially announced the production of Venom 3 in CinemaCon 2022, and with Spider-Man: No Way Home recently released in December 2021 and Morbius on April 1, 2022, Sony may strategically set a date for Venom 3 to allow fans enough time to enjoy all of the movies coming out. With this information, we can expect the movie to be released around early to mid-2024.

Venom 3 Cast: Who are the Actors in the Movie?

There is no definite list of actors yet for Venom 3. However, we can anticipate certain actors returning and reprising their roles in the movie.

Tom Hardy returns as Venom

Tom Hardy has put so much of himself in the first and second Venom movies. His dedication is a significant factor in the success of the franchise that it will be difficult for a different actor to fill in the role of Eddie Brock and Venom. Tom Hardy Joins a Martial Arts Tournament Tom Hardy made the front pages in September 2022, when he joined (and won!) a martial arts tournament. In a report by Fandomwire, we learn that Hardy earned a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu during the tournament, which is the second highest rank next to the Black Belt.

Stephen Graham as Detective Mulligan aka Toxin

We may also expect to see Stephen Graham play Detective Mulligan or Toxin if the movie producers choose to follow the storyline suggested at the end of Let There Be Carnage. However, this seems to be an unlikely option.

Other Venom Characters

The other actors who may return are Michelle Williams, who plays Anne Weying, and Reid Scoot as Dr Dan Lewis. There have been rumors about new characters who may join Venom 3. One rumor that seems most promising is the one where Joe Manganiello plays the role of Flash Thompson, another host who bonded with the original symbiote.

Venom 3 Crew: Who are the Creatives Behind the Scenes?

There are no announcements yet about who will write and direct Venom 3. Venom was directed by Ruben Fleischer and written by Jeff Pinker, Scott Rosenberg, and Kelly Marcel. Meanwhile, Kelly Marcel and Tom Hardy wrote Venom: Let There Be Carnage with Andy Serkis as the director. There have been fan rumors that Kelly Marcel will be writing again for the third film, but there are no confirmations. Andy Serkis also expressed his interest in directing the third film in the Venom franchise.

Venom 3 Plot: What Will Happen in Venom 3?

There are a lot of different plots that Venom 3 could take. The ending and mid-credit scenes of Venom: Let There Be Carnage opened up the possibilities for Eddie Brock and Venom. Venom: Let There Be Carnage ended with a scene showing a dead Detective Patrick Mulligan, who suddenly wakes with flashing blue eyes. This could be a precursor to the existence of Toxin, another symbiote host who could be Venom’s new archnemesis, especially with the apparent death of two other villains in the second film. Another potential path for the movie is Brock and Venom’s exploration of the multiverse. During the mid-credit scenes in Let There Be Carnage, Brock and Venom were discussing the existence of the multiverse before they were suddenly whisked off to another dimension - specifically, the one in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the post-credits of Spider-Man: No Way Home, we see a confused Brock talking to a bartender. As Brock was leaving the bar, Doctor Strange cast his spell, eradicating Spider-Man from everyone’s memory in this dimension and returning the visiting characters to their respective dimensions, including Brock. However, we see a drop of symbiote left behind when Doctor Strange’s spell pulled Brock back home. Could this mean that Venom and Spider-Man, the quintessential comic book enemies, will finally meet? With the Marvel Cinematic Universe exploring the possibility of a multiverse in their films, a collaboration between Sony and Marvel could definitely happen, but Sony may have to initiate the partnership. On June 16, 2022, Ton Hardy gave us an update via Instagram where he posted a photo of the script for the third movie.
