Lum Aniplex+ Figure
Fans of old-school anime and manga are probably already familiar with Urusei Yatsura, the iconic manga series from legendary manga artist, Rumiko Takahashi. The original anime adaptation aired from 1981 to 1986, with the first two seasons directed by Mamoru Oshii, the director of the classic sci-fi anime, Ghost in the Shell. For younger anime fans, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure studio David Production announced that it is making an Urusei Yatsura remake series back in January 2022. The series premiered on October 14. While the David Production anime doesn’t radically change the design of Lum and the rest of the series’ cast, it does update Lum’s look a bit. Not to mention that it features a brighter color palette compared to the original. This new figure is based on Lum’s remake look, including the more pronounced horns, heeled boots, and thinner black tiger stripes for her bikini. Though even fans of her classic design should find this new Lum figure to look great. RELATED: Urusei Yatsura Returns With A Marriage of Classic and Modern Anime
Urusei Yatsura Remake Pre-orders, Release Date
This isn’t the first time that a Lum figure was released following the Urusei Yatsura remake’s premiere as there’s the cutesy Lum mini figure that also opened pre-orders recently. Though this might be the most detailed one yet, not to mention one of the biggest. Specifically, this new Urusei Yatsura Lum figure has a 1/7 scale, meaning it will take up lots of space on your shelf. For reference, the more common Pop Up Parade figures are only 1/10 in scale. Of course, you can expect to pay quite a lot for this figure as it is priced at JPY 19,800 (around USD 150). Pre-orders are currently open now on the Aniplex+ online store until March 26, 2023. You’ll also have to wait a while for this to be delivered as it is set to release in January 2024 at the earliest. Get the latest anime news and info by following us on Twitter @epicstreamanime.
