There have been speculations about Giancarlo Esposito being in talks to join the MCU earlier in July and the Breaking Bad actor actually confirmed the news this month. Not surprisingly, people were thrilled about the possibility of Esposito playing a Marvel comic book character and now the Maze Runner: The Death Cure star has revealed more details about his meeting with Marvel Studios.
During a recent appearance at Fan Expo Boston, Giancarlo Esposito somehow confirmed that he is interested in something bigger than a Disney+ series (via Comicbook.com). “In the Marvel Universe if you do something in television, one character, you can’t switch and play a different character,” Esposito said. “So, out of that meeting, which was really wonderful, I had some interest in doing something with them which they’ve since done, I think it was Loki at that time, and someone else has done Loki, that’s great, in television and I’d like to be invited to the table to do something in film because I have a big persona and I’ve been in the television world for a while and I’ve still got some movies each year.” It’s an intriguing tease and although it doesn’t reveal much, Esposito’s comments already have fans hoping that we’ll get to see him as a Marvel hero (or villain) on the silver screen. Esposito is expected to return as Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian Season 3, which is set to premiere on Disney+ in February 2023.
