In Thor: Love and Thunder, King Valkyrie is dealing with the aftermath of Gorr the God Butcher’s attack on New Asgard. Not surprisingly, the residents were quick to take action in an effort to help the kingdom recover. Interestingly, even the actors in the stage play went up to Valkyrie to suggest their ideas for a new play about the incident.
It might seem like a small yet star-studded scene considering the actors are played by Matt Damon and Luke Hemsworth but it didn’t seem to add anything much to the whole storyline. Nevertheless, Tessa Thompson admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that she loved that specific scene.
“There was one cut where that bit went away and I was so sad, but then it came back and I was so happy. I was like, ‘That has to be in the movie!’” Thompson said. However, she also revealed that it was almost deleted from the theatrical cut.
“So I was very sad for a brief second when it wasn’t there, but that was so fun. Having them around to explore the importance of theater and storytelling, as expressed in Asgardian culture, I just loved that,” Thompson stated.
It’s not what people would typically think about New Asgard but we’re loving the idea that the Asgardians were big on theater and how it was a huge part of their culture. Needless to say, we’re glad it was in the final version.
Thor: Love and Thunder is now screening in theaters worldwide.
