Suzume No Tojimari Earns 6B Yen in Japan
The official Suzume no Tojimari Twitter account shared a new video of Nanoka Hara and Hokuto Matsumura showing off the cool photobooks that will be given away to Japanese theatergoers. The tweet also confirms that the film has now earned 6.26 billion yen at the box office which is an impressive feat considering that the movie has only been screening for three weeks.
Lucky theatergoers will be able to get the photobook starting Saturday, December 3, 2022. In the meantime, Suzume no Tojimari continues to earn more every day. It was previously confirmed that Suzume made 147.4% of Your Name’s opening box office gross back in 2016. In addition to that, the new movie made 114.7% of Weathering With You’s three-day opening box office gross when the latter was released in 2019. With that in mind, Suzume is now well on its way to becoming one of the highest-grossing Japanese movies of all time. Suzume no Tojimari follows 17-year-old Suzume as she meets a mysterious young man who is looking for a door. She agrees to help him and ends up opening a “door of disaster” that kickstarts a series of disastrous events across Japan. Now, Suzume must travel across the country finding similar doors and locking them to prevent major catastrophes. For now, Suzume has yet to be released internationally. However, the movie is already expected to screen in international theaters in early 2023. Get the latest news and trends direct to your feed by following us on Twitter @epicstreamanime or on Facebook.
