Even though the Supergirl series already ended on The CW, there are still a lot of stories to tell for the Girl of Steel. A lot of fans have even speculated that the Superman & Lois series will provide a new storytelling avenue for Supergirl, but the fact that it takes place in a different world could be a real challenge.
Speaking as a guest during this year’s Fan Expo Canada, Superman & Lois lead stars Elizabeth Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin offered high praises to Melissa Benoist, while also revealing that the Supergirl actress wants to return in the DC spinoff.
During the Q&A at the Fan Expo Canada, both of the stars were asked if they heard the rumor that Benoist will make an appearance in the series. Although they admitted that they haven’t come across those speculations, Elizabeth Tulloch revealed that Benoist once told her that she wants to make a comeback in the Superman & Lois show.
Tulloch also expressed her interest in working with other Arrowverse stars such as The Flash series actor Grant Gustin: “We have not heard that rumor about her coming on the show… She has expressed interest to me in doing it and I know that we would love to work with her again, and Grant [Gustin], and everyone else. I just don’t know."
Tulloch also noted that the crossovers with other shows is not possible due to the pandemic: “Ever since we started the show, COVID has been a reality, which is why we haven’t done any of the crossovers or anything like that, so we just can’t speak to whether or not that’s feasible.”
Instead of talking about the crossovers, Tyler Hoechlin offered high praise towards Melissa Benoist, “Melissa is the sweetest she’s the greatest. I think she was born to play that role. I had so much fun guest starring on the show… [About] the crossovers, you couldn’t say nice enough things about her. She really is the best,” Hoechlin said during the Q&A.
Superman & Lois series was supposed to be a direct spin-off of The CW’s Supergirl, considering that both Tulloch and Hoechlin first appeared in the Supergirl series. However, during the finale of Season 2, it was established that the show takes place on a different Earth from the other Arrowverse series.
As of now, Superman & Lois Season 3 still doesn’t have an official release date.
