From a heavy-drinking cop, who led the investigation into Will Byers’ (Noah Schnapp) disappearance in the first season, Hopper has come a long way. He has shown dramatic transformation that makes him loved by many; thus, his supposed death in the third season worried fans. Now that he returned in the fourth season and survived the Soviet prison camp, would his luck continue in Stranger Things Season 5?

David Harbour Reveals What He Wants for Hopper in Stranger Things Season 5

In an interview with Variety, the 47-year-old actor weighed in on the issue of his character’s possible death in the series’ fifth and final season. The actor himself felt like Hopper should have died in the third season finale but was happy with how things ended for the chief of police. “There were several times I thought he should die. I certainly thought that in the beginning because he was so destroyed and hell-bent on destruction,” he said. “Then when it seemed like he went in Season 3, I was happy for him.” ALSO READ: Isle of the Dead: Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Lauren Cohan Warn Fans At The 2022 San Diego Comic-Con About The Walking Dead Spinoff With that said, he hopes his character will pull through in the next season now that he’s “being resurrected as the man he wants to become.” So, staying alive is now a must for him. “It would almost be nicer to keep him alive,” he explained. “Let’s see what they choose.”

Stranger Things 5 Work to Soon Begin

The Duffer Brothers revealed the work for Stranger Things 5 would soon begin after their little vacation this month. “We’re going to take a little vacation in July,” Ross Duffer told Collider. “And then we’re going to come back. I know that the writer’s room is going to start in that first week of August.” YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE: Legacies Season 5: Is There A Chance For The Vampire Diaries Spinoff To Be Renewed? But compared to the fourth season, Matt Duffer revealed the fifth and final season would be shorter. “The only reason we don’t expect to be as long as [season 4] if you look at it, it’s almost a two-hour ramp up before our kids really get drawn into a supernatural mystery,” he explained. “You get to know them, you get to see them in their lives, they’re struggling with adapting to high school and so forth, Steve’s trying to find a date, all of that. None of that is obviously going to be occurring [in season 5].”

Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date

But I think that’s the plan. So it’d probably come out mid-2024, based on our track record.” If his words are anything to go by, fans will not see Stranger Things Season 5 for about two years.
