At a Los Angeles event, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the Stranger Things creators Ross and Matt Duffer along with executive producer Shawn Levy teased what’s to come in the final season of the show. At the Hollywood event, the Duffer brothers and executive producer were also joined by cast members Caleb McLaughlin, Joseph Quinn, Jamie Campbell Bower, Priah Ferguson, Eduardo Franco, and virtually, Millie Bobby Brown.
Ross reveals that while most of the background story they had for the Upside Down’s history was already in Season four, they still have ‘quite a bit more to get in’, especially since with so many (still alive) characters whose arcs must end properly before wrapping up the season.
Matt Duffer continues to tell the story of how they had actually made their executives cry upon pitching the whole season to Netflix in a two-hour meeting. Read his full story below:
In response to that, executive producer Shawn Levy teased how good season five is going to be, not only for the show and its finale, but for the characters, as well.
Hinting at how they plan to revert back to the Season 1 formula, Ross finally describes how they picture Season five coming to life: “a culmination of all of the seasons, so it’s sort of got a little bit from each, whereas before each season was so distinctly — three, this is our big summer blockbuster season with our big monster; four was the psychological horror.”
