In an interview with E! News on the Emmy Awards’ red carpet, via People, Martin revealed his real plans for his career. He cleared that retiring wasn’t simply leaving the business when Only Murders in the Building ended, hinting it was more than that. “It’s a little overstated,” he said. “They asked me, ‘Do you think about retirement?’ I said, ‘Well this is it. I’m doing a television show, I’ve got a book coming out, and I’m touring with [Short]. In fact, he said at the time, “I’m really not interested in retiring. I’m not. But I would just work a little less. Maybe.”
Martin Short Weighs in on Steve Martin-Retiring Issue
Martin Short also can’t help but talk about Martin’s alleged plans to retire. In the same interview, the Canadia-American actor said he couldn’t imagine his pal and long-time collaborator retiring. “I hope not because then you know what happens to me,” he joked. For the past 40 years, these two have been working together, doing several projects to their credit, per ScreenRant.
