In a report from Deadline, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, will, once again, be delayed with Shazam! Fury of the Gods taking up the March 17, 2023 release and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom moving to December 25, 2023. The decision was not explained by Warner Bros. but with the merger of Warner Bros. Discovery with HBO Max, the company is currently facing some corporate re-structures which affected a lot of projects, even causing some titles to be scrapped and cancelled.

However, for Shazam! Fury of the Gods, director David F. Sandberg puts the blame on Avatar: The Way of Water. In a tweet, Sandberg personally addressed the delay and wanted to have his DC film the attention that it should receive without another huge movie overshadowing it.
