To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Fallout, Kilter Films and Prime Video revealed the first look at a scene from the upcoming Fallout TV series that’s currently being developed. The image features a look at the inside of a Vault that just opened with a mysterious figure standing from the outside and looking in on three Vault dwellers, who are all wearing Vault 33 jumpsuits.
Fallout is being adapted for Prime Video by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the showrunners of the Westworld reboot. Nolan and Joy will serve as head writers and Todd Howard will executive-produce. Nolan will also direct the series premiere of the upcoming show. The Fallout TV series will star Ella Purnell, Kyle MacLachlan, and Walton Goggins. While plot details are still being kept under wraps, the three Vault dwellers featured in the first look are apparently Vault 33 based on their jumpsuit number. Goggins will reportedly play a character “based on the ghouls”, but beside that, it’s still unclear what the story of the TV show will be about. For those unfamiliar with the games, Fallout is set in a fictionalized United States in an alternate history scenario that diverges from reality after 1945, following World War II. In this alternative atompunk “golden age”, atomic physics and vacuum tubes serve as the foundations of scientific progress. Of course, the Fallout TV series is not the only videogame adaptation set to hit the small screen. An adaptation of Horizon is coming to Netflix, and HBO Max is working on a Last of Us TV series.
