Initially, it was announced during the USC Trojans Football Team’s season opener that the upcoming One Piece movie will be released in cinemas this October. However, it turns out that the October release refers to the premiere and not the general cinema release.
One Piece Film: Red is the fifteenth feature film in the franchise, and it was released in Japan on August 6, 2022. Since its release, the film not only broke opening weekend records but also quickly became the highest-earning film in the franchise. The film’s story follows the Straw Hat Crew as they attend the concert of Uta, the world’s most popular singer. Though it is soon revealed by Luffy that he knows Uta since his childhood as she is the daughter of Red-Hair Shanks. While fans in the US will have to wait a bit longer for its release, Crunchyroll and Toei Animation have announced that the film’s North American premiere will take place on October 6, 2022, coinciding with New York Comic Con. Ahead of the North American premiere, a limited number of fans in Australia will also be able to enjoy the film early. Crunchyroll revealed that Film: Red will get a subtitled premiere during the Crunchyroll Expo Australia on September 16, 2022.
Following its North American premiere, One Piece Film: Red will release in cinemas across the US and Canada on November 4, 2022. The film is also confirmed to release in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on the same day, November 4. Meanwhile, fans in Australia and New Zealand will get to see the film a bit early as Film: Red gets a general AU and NZ release on November 3, 2022. It was also announced by Crunchyroll that Austria and Germany will get to see the film even earlier as its general cinema release in the two countries will happen on October 13, 2022. Tickets for the Australia and New Zealand screenings will go on sale on October 5, Meanwhile, North American tickets will be available starting October 6. Finally, it’s confirmed that the movie will be screened in both subtitled and dubbed versions in theaters, similar to Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’s release.
