Here’s What Happened Before One Piece Chapter 1067
The cover of One Piece Chapter 1066 depicts Germa 66’s moving kingdom as Caesar Clown and the others fly toward it. The chapter begins with the Straw Hats’ reactions to Vegapunk Shaka’s claims about Egghead being a past island, as well as the existence of another technologically advanced kingdom a long time ago. According to Vegapunk Shaka, there was once a man who gave his life to archaeology and revealed the existence of that kingdom. That’s when it was discovered that a particular machine was originally manufactured somewhere else. To Nami’s surprise, Robin asks Vegapunk Shaka if the aforementioned machine was created during the Void Century. Vegapunk Shaka continues, telling Robin that Ohara was leveled down by the Navy’s Buster Call 22 years ago, leading him to believe that Ohara discovered the existence of that technologically advanced kingdom. The Void Century, as per Vegapunk Shaka, is a history of the war between extremely advanced civilizations of the past and a group of 20 kingdoms. These kingdoms won the war and went on to establish the World Government that gave rise to the world they know today. To ensure that the ancient kingdom’s ideals were not passed down, the 20 kingdoms erased all traces of them from history. This means that everyone who has learned about this event will be eliminated. While Usopp sobs in the background, Vegapunk Shaka explains that everything he said was just his theory. Nonetheless, Vegapunk Shaka asks Robin if Ohara was indeed wiped out. If so, then the world government has essentially admitted that everything was true. Robin brings the question back to Vegapunk Shaka and tells him to learn the truth straight from the government, considering his status. However, Vegapunk Shaka reveals that he will be eliminated like the others for even speaking about it. The discussion continues, and Vegapunk Shaka claims that Ohara’s will is still alive. In this regard, the events of that day shocked the world because the world’s most knowledgeable place was destroyed in a single night, leaving only one little girl alive—Robin. Several months later, Vegapunk Shaka visited the ruins of Ohara and met Dr. Clover, the great archaeologist, in person. Dr. Clover was once an adventurer who was obsessed with the Void Century, so he traveled the world in search of rare texts. He was later arrested by the Navy but escaped from prison 10 times, earning him the title of the “World’s Most Famous Archaeologist.” Other scholars were eventually drawn to Dr. Clover and his quest, making Ohara a sacred land for archaeology. The scholars filled the lake in the center of the island with a massive collection of books and papers of all kinds for Ohara’s last stand. They were all killed defending the treasure they wanted to leave to future generations. Despite this, Vegapunk Shaka believes that Ohara won the war because the government’s ignorant soldiers would not have recognized the value of what they were seeing in Ohara. When she heard all of this, Robin became emotional and began reminiscing about her past, where her mother had bid her farewell to take care of humanity’s most valuable asset—its history. While the other Straw Hats are upset with Vegapunk Shaka for making Robin cry, the doctor realizes that his theory is correct. He also inquires about the current location of the books, as he wishes to return them to Punk Hazard. Vegapunk Shaka isn’t done yet, and he continues to tell everyone about his encounter with a diverse group of people in Ohara 22 years ago. He noticed giants removing the books from the lake, and then Monkey D. Dragon appeared behind him. Dragon informed Vegapunk that the giants are not thieves and that they had traveled from Elbaf, where their captain is a strange man with bandages. They also understand the value of the books in the lake. According to the captain of the giants, Dr. Clover sacrificed his life to save the books; therefore, they cannot allow them to be erased from history. It was also fortunate that the World Government did not discover Ohara’s final stand. Dragon also makes fun of Vegapunk after learning that he is now the government’s lap dog. He also believes that Vegapunk is too good to turn down their offer to join the freedom fighters. Vegapunk insisted that his intellect and expertise would be useless within an impoverished military force like Dragon’s, as opposed to the massive organization of the World Government. Despite his dislike of war, Dragon wishes to establish a military force with which he can actually fight back against the government. He also promised to avenge Dr. Clover’s death and Ohara’s will, ensuring that their efforts were not in vain. Before the end of that year, Dragon formed the Revolutionary Army with Emporio Ivankov and Bartholomew Kuma. While Vegapunk is not permitted to learn any of this, he traveled to Elbaf to read the books out of personal curiosity. In other words, all of the world’s mysteries that Ohara deciphered are right there in his head, where he has been researching them for a long time. Surprisingly, Robin is acquainted with Saul, the captain of the giants, who is currently in hiding. She also expresses gratitude to Vegapunk Shaka for ensuring that their battle was not in vain. Following that, Vegapunk Shaka releases the Straw Hat Pirates’ DOM shoes and invites them to accompany him to look at something. In Scraphead, Fabriophase, Egghead, Luffy and the others are preoccupied with the massive ancient robot in front of them. After Luffy and the others tried to give it random commands, the massive robot exploded. Aside from that, an elderly man known to Bonney as Vegapunk emerges from the robot. Rather than catching up with Bonney, Vegapunk informs everyone that their DOM shoes have a hover function that launches Chopper, Luffy, and Vegapunk into the air. Dr. Vegapunk is introduced as the smartest man in the world and the leader of the World Government’s SSG, or Special Science Group before the chapter ends.
