According to insider @Epicopboy on Twitter, the anime will take a short break from the ongoing Wano arc and will instead go back to the past to feature Luffy and Uta’s childhood. Specifically, @Epicopboy shared that the next One Piece episodes are entitled:
1029: Red Hair Daughter!1030: The Promise of a New Era! Luffy and Uta!1031: The Legend of Red Hair!
In the Red trailers, it’s shown that Luffy knows Uta, with Luffy even being the one to say that she is Shanks’ daughter. Given this, it should be interesting to see the childhood connection between the two in the next three episodes. As Uta is not a character that has appeared in the manga, these upcoming episodes are considered filler. The TV anime getting filler episodes isn’t new as there are over 10 arcs in the series that fans consider as filler given how they don’t affect the plot. Though for fans of the anime, these three episodes should be must-watches considering they will tie in directly to the upcoming movie. One Piece Film: Red is the fifteenth feature film in the franchise, and it will release in Japanese cinemas on August 6, 2022. Though lucky fans were able to see the film early during its premiere on July 22, 2022. The movie follows Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew as they attend the concert of Uta, the world’s most popular singer. Though it is soon revealed that Uta is the daughter of the legendary pirate, Red-Haired Shanks. In Japan, the movie will release in cinemas and IMAX theaters. Meanwhile, the film is set to release in Fall 2022 internationally, including the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, and more.
