Once the countdown ends on December 11, it’s not known what exactly will be announced as there are no details regarding the upcoming reveal. Though it’s possible that a new anime will be revealed, especially as the countdown is on the anime’s website. In case you missed it, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc – Memorial Edition is a TV edit of the Golden Age Arc movie trilogy from Studio 4°C. It began airing on October 2, 2022, and new episodes are released outside Japan on Crunchyroll. The film trilogy was released between 2012 and 2013 and it’s a 3DCG anime adaptation of the Berserk manga’s Golden Age Arc. Specifically, it follows Guts’ journey from joining the Band of the Hawk up until the Eclipse. If you’re unfamiliar with the manga, Berserk is a dark fantasy manga series created by Kentaro Miura and serialized in Monthly Animal House from 1989 to 1992 after which it was transferred to Young Animal from 1992 onwards.
The manga is one of the most influential works of the dark fantasy genre, and it has gone on to inspire numerous manga, including Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, and more. Given its popularity, the series received a couple of anime adaptations. The first is a 1997 TV anime by OLM which covers part of the Black Swordsman Arc and the Golden Age Arc. After more than a decade, Studio 4°C adapted the Golden Age Arc in the said film trilogy. The studio also worked on a new 3DCG TV anime simply entitled Berserk, and it covered the Conviction Arc along with the first half of the Millennium Falcon Arc. If a new Berserk anime is indeed going to be announced, it’s possible that it will cover the second half of the Millennium Falcon Arc. Nonetheless, we’ll have to wait and see if this countdown is indeed for a new anime when it ends this December.
