According to Avatar News, Avatar Studios is currently working on the next Avatar after Aang and Korra. An original animated streaming series, which will be set in the future after The Legend of Korra, will follow the next earth Avatar in the cycle. The report adds that the new show is expected to stream on Paramount+ in 2025. It has not yet been revealed who the next Avatar will be. However, the report confirms that they will come from the Earth nations and that the series will take place a full century after Korra’s time. It is also suggested that “it will be in the Avatar world’s equivalent of our world’s present day.”
This is great news for fans who are eager for more Avatar projects in the future. Amazingly, the new series isn’t the only major project from the franchise that is expected to drop in 2025. After all, Avatar Studios has already announced the adult Aang movie which is scheduled to hit theaters on October 10th, 2025. With that in mind, 2025 is going to be a huge year for the franchise. Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon had previously announced three animated Avatar: The Last Airbender films, the first of which will be directed by the show’s former storyboard artist and supervising producer Lauren Montgomery. Netflix is currently working on the Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series adaptation which will star Gordon Cormier as Aang the Avatar, Kiawentiio Tarbell as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Elizabeth Yu as Azula, Daniel Dae-Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, Maria Zhang as Suki, Ken Leung as Commander Zhao, Lim Kay Siu as Gyatso, Yvonne Chapman as Avatar Kyoshi, Tamlyn Tomita as Yukari, and Casey Camp-Horinek as Gran Gran.
