Some years ago, the talk of the town was Death Note and how Light Yagami would just have to write the name of someone and cause his or her death. Various adaptations were made on its name such as anime shows and live-action series. There was even a time when Willem Dafoe voiced the Shinigami in a live-action Death Note movie which was directed by Adam Wingard from the Godzilla vs. Kong film. Now, Netflix is giving a new shot for a live-action series of Death Note with Stranger Things creators, the Duffer Brothers. With the Duffer Brothers working on the live-action Death Note series on Netflix, they need not look far to find a writer for it as they tapped Halia Abdel-Megui from their studio to pen the script and will also be an Executive Producer of the show.

Halia Abdel-Megui boasts a wide range of what she can do to shows in the industry given her resume working with the Duffer Bros. on the upcoming Talisman and even being a music producer for Doctor Who. Death Note follows Light Yagami who discovers a notebook which belongs to Ryuk, a shinigami. The mysterious notebook gives the person using it the ability to cause the death of anyone once their name is written on it. Still in the early stages of pre-production, Netflix’s live-action Death Note series has no release date yet and considering its progress, it could still take years before it comes out of the streaming platform.
