Among this year’s participants for the Venice Film Festival coming from Netflix is Blonde which will follow the private life of Marilyn Monroe in fiction, it is expected to have explicit scenes and tackle sensitive topics like drug abuse, abortion, graphic sex, nudity, and more, thus, having an NC-17 rating. It isn’t usual to get one but the NC-17 rating has been given to Netflix’s Blonde which makes it a controversial film since it would be the very first one to get such a rating on Netflix which stars Ana De Armas as the titular character based on the novel of Joyce Carol Oates about Marilyn Monroe. The inclusion of Netflix’s Blonde in the Venice Film Festival gives it a special premiere in theaters where it received a 14-minute standing ovation which made Ada De Armas break down in tears as reported by Variety.
