“Our love for Marvel is based on the books that we’ve read as kids and the books that we fell in love with. The one series that you know we adored growing up was Secret Wars,” Joe Russo told Deadline. “It’s incredibly ambitious. It would be bigger than Infinity War and Endgame. But it’s a massive undertaking, and, uh, you know, those two movies were very hard to make. So trying to imagine making another two movies even bigger than those two… we’re going to have to sleep on it.““I keep saying Secret Wars because that was one of the first books that I really fell in love with as a kid,” Joe added. “This notion of, you know, event storytelling, and I think that’s part of the reason that we gravitate so strongly towards these event films and these ensemble films is the notion that you can contain so many different characters and so many different points of view and galvanize them around a story point is really compelling to us.“All these multiversal occurrences seemingly pave the way for an impending live-action adaptation of Marvel Comics’ Secret Wars. After the brief mention of an “Incursion” in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with Kang The Conqueror being teased as the next Thanos-level threat, it totally makes sense that Secret Wars would be the next big saga of the MCU.Who else could possibly be more deserving than the Russo Brothers to direct such an ambitious film? It would also be wise for Marvel Studios to offer the film to the Russos as they have wholly experienced as showrunners for Marvel’s biggest crossover film of all time. For now, we can foresee Secret Wars getting released in either Phase 5 or 6, and now that the Russo Brothers have taken an extended hiatus from the MCU, Secret Wars would undoubtedly be the best comeback. The Russo Brothers’ latest project The Gray Man is now streaming on Netflix. Also read: Stranger Things Star Millie Bobby Brown and The Russo Brothers Are Teaming Up for New Netflix Film
