According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios has temporarily shut down any production-related activities for Blade in Atlanta as they currently doing an extensive search on finding a new director. The film is still currently in development and they are planning to restart production in early 2023. The report also added that it is now very unlikely at this point that the film will be able to make it with its supposed release next year now that the project has been put back in development and will no longer commit to its production start this fall.
Moon Knight writer Beau DeMayo is serving as the current writer of the film and is reportedly starting it from scratch. The studio is also said to be taking its time in finding a new director as they want to “really get it right.” It is also unknown yet if the other key players who were hired in the film prior to Tariq’s exit are still attached to the project now that the production start has been shifted and a new person is taking the director’s chair soon who might have their own preference. Hopefully, Marvel Studios will be able to find a new director soon so that they can put the project back on track as fans have been longing to see the film. It’s also interesting to see if their entire release calendar will be affected now that the film is unlikely to make it with its release next year. For now, let’s just stay tuned for the updates.
