After its announcement back in October, MAPPA finally confirmed the January premiere of its upcoming isekai anime via the show’s official Twitter account.
MAPPA’s Big Anime Projects
It’s a big meme among the anime community at this point that MAPPA is animating almost every show there is. While the studio’s output was just a couple of series per year, their yearly projects began increasing around 2019. MAPPA has also become known for picking up various shows that were initially animated by another studio. For instance, MAPPA took over animation duties for Attack on Titan: The Final Season and Vinland Saga Season 2. These two shows were originally animated by Wit Studio. In the meantime, MAPPA has also worked on both original anime and adaptations. Some of their original works include Takt Op. Destiny, Re-Main, and Zombie Land Saga. Though it’s their adaptations that make them well-known such as Jujutsu Kaisen and the ongoing Fall 2022 anime, Chainsaw Man. Despite how busy the studio is, there are reports that claim MAPPA will take over animation duties for One Punch Man Season 3. While not confirmed, many fans hope for this to be true given the high standard of quality MAPPA’s anime have. Of course, this has also led to a resurgence in discussions about reported unfair labor practices, including overworking staff and low pay.
