Adachi revealed his thoughts on the events after the show’s ending in a recent interview with Febri, which is part of a series of interviews featuring staff and cast members of the show. Spoiler Warning: There are major spoilers for Lycoris Recoil Episode 13 in this article.
Lycoris Recoil’s Successful Run From Beginning to End
Lycoris Recoil (also referred to as LycoReco by fans) is an original anime series by A-1 Pictures that’s directed by Shingo Adachi and written by Asaura. It was one of Summer 2022’s surprise hits, earning many fans, including Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima. The series is set in an alternate version of Japan that’s kept safe by “Lycoris,” an all-female group of spies and assassins who are in charge of secretly protecting the public from criminals and terrorists. Its story follows Takina, a Lycoris agent who is demoted after disobeying orders during a mission. Takina is then assigned to work alongside Chisato, an expert Lycoris agent. Eventually, she discovers that Chisato is an unusual agent and has a personality that’s the opposite of hers. Despite this, Takina must work together with Chisato if she wants to get her old position back. While things weren’t looking good for Chisato in the last couple of episodes due to her artificial heart being in danger of failing, she managed to pull through thanks to Mika. In the end, Chisato and Takina were able to defeat Majima. After these events, Chisato says that she wants to travel to Hawaii. The last episode’s post-credits scene shows Chisato and friends in Hawaii working in a mobile café truck. YOU MIGHT LIKE: Is Lycoris Recoil a Yuri Anime?
Lycoris Recoil Director on What Happens After the Ending
When asked about the ending, Adachi revealed that he thinks Chisato, Takina, and the other Café LycoReco staff won’t stay in Hawaii for good. Adachi believes that this is just a vacation for them and that they will soon return to Japan. Given this, the story may continue. Adachi remarked that the story is definitely open for a continuation, though he did not mention anything specific about a second season. While Lycoris Recoil ended on a satisfying note, the fact that Majima is revealed to be alive means the door is very much open for a Season 2. But at the moment, we’ll have to wait and see if a continuation will be announced soon. Discover more of our insights and the latest anime news by following us on Twitter @epicstreamanime.
