Sitting down with NME, the actress revealed that she would love to team up with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man if given the chance. “Oh man, it’s not set in stone or anything like that, but I definitely want to work with Tom Holland,” said Wright. “I think he’s just dope. It would be really cool to see a mash-up between him and Shuri.”
After taking up the mantle from her late, great big brother T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), Shuri becomes the new Black Panther. The transition was introduced in the sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which also served as a tribute to Boseman, who died of colon cancer.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever also features Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and the Dora Milaje as they fight to protect their nation from the undersea nation of Tlālōcān. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their current reality, the heroes rally together for a better future for the kingdom of Wakanda.
Marvel recently revealed its plans for the MCU for the next three years, with two new Avengers movies announced: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, both arriving in 2025. However, plans for the third installment of Black Panther are still up for discussion.
Producer Nate Moore said in an interview, “We really want to see how audiences receive the film [Wakanda Forever], and I think Ryan’s really interested in seeing how the film plays before we decide. There are certainly ideas we’ve floated around of what a third film could be if we get to make it.”
In 2021, producer Amy Pascal confirmed that Holland will continue donning the Spidey suit. She said, “We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel… We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”
