There’s no denying that Nope is an entirely different genre compared to his previous films and surprisingly shifted into aliens and UFOs. However, Peele’s latest film seemingly left the fans wondering about certain plot holes like the significance of the Gordy’s Home backstory and the horrifying killer chimpanzee, which even sparked more curiosity when Peele revealed that the original runtime of his thriller film was over 3 hours and 45 minutes.
In a recent interview with Collider, Peele addressed the possibility of releasing an extended cut of his recent film, Nope. The director plays it coy by saying that he will not “confirm nor deny” that the extended cut is lined up, but teased that “people will see more in the future” if their enthusiasm continues. See Peele’s full quote below"
Em might have triumphantly blown up the spine-chilling unidentified flying object, but there were still unsolved mysteries, including the alien’s intentions on their town and where it actually came from. The film also placed heavy emphasis on Jupe’s (Steven Yeun) Gordy’s Home backstory, which the film also failed to divulge.
Nonetheless, Peele’s statement implies that there’s a slight chance that fans could actually get an extended cut of Nope as long as the fans’ enthusiasm for his film prevails. Or maybe, these unsolved mysteries were intended for a sequel?
Nope is still screening in selected theaters worldwide.
