Specifically, the third part’s release date was announced via the official Netflix Anime Twitter account. There, info about the episode count and release date was revealed. A new visual featuring Jolyne and the rest of the main cast was also shared in the announcement.
Aside from its December 1 release, Netflix confirmed that Episodes 25 to 38 of Stone Ocean will all be released in one day, similar to the previous releases. This also likely means that the series will end on the 38th episode. In case you’re unfamiliar, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean is an anime adaptation of Hirohiko Araki’s manga of the same name. The manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from December 1999 to April 2003. Stone Ocean is the sixth part or story arc of Araki’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga. The manga began in 1987 and has since gotten eight parts.
Each part features its own story and main character. The first six parts happen in the same timeline, but beginning with Part 7: Steel Ball Run, the series introduced a new continuity. The series follows Jolyne Cujoh, the daughter of Jotaro Kujo (the protagonist of Stardust Crusaders) and currently the only female JoJo. In the story, Jolyne falls into a trap and is sentenced to 15 years at a maximum-security prison. There, she receives a pendant from her father, causing a mysterious power to awaken inside her which will help her escape.
Unlike a typical TV anime which is released in seasons or cours, Stone Ocean is released in chunks. The first part featured the first 12 episodes and was released on Netflix back in December 2021. Part 2 was then released in September 2022, and it featured Episodes 13 to 24. This unusual release schedule is because Stone Ocean’s streaming rights are owned by Netflix. In fact, the anime releases first on Netflix, with its TV broadcast in Japan being delayed. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean Part 3 is confirmed to release on Netflix globally on December 1, 2022. Currently, there’s no word yet on when the series will be broadcast on Japanese TV networks.
