Araki revealed this fact about the next JoJo Part in a new interview in Kono Mystery ga Sugoi! 2023 mystery fiction guidebook. He also mentioned his storytelling style as well as his thoughts on the future of Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan (via JoJo’s Bizarre Encyclopedia).
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Manga Continues in Part 9
Even if you’re a more casual anime fan, you probably already know of JoJo thanks to the various memes that the series has spawned. But if you’re only familiar with the series through memes, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a manga series by Hirohiko Araki that began back in 1987 when the first part was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The series is divided into multiple parts, with each part featuring a different protagonist and setting, though all the main characters are part of the Joestar bloodline. The first six parts of JoJo were serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, and all of them take place in the same universe. Part 7 heralded a big change for the series as this part marked its move to Ultra Jump along with a new continuity. Part 9 of the series will take place in the same universe as Parts 7 and 8, though as is tradition, it will feature a new character. While the manga was already popular even back in the late 80s to early 90s, the series’ popularity skyrocketed thanks to the anime series adaptation by David Production. Recently, the final set of episodes of Part 6: Stone Ocean was released on Netflix.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 9 Title, Main Star
In Araki’s new interview, he revealed that Part 9 will star a descendant of Joseph Joestar. JOJOLANDS is also confirmed by Araki to have a story about the Joestar bloodline. Take note though, given that Part 9 is part of the new continuity, this Joseph Joestar is not the same person as the Joseph from Parts 2 and 3. Instead, it refers to the Joseph that was introduced in Part 8 aka JOJOLION. Aside from this info, Araki didn’t mention much else about Part 9. Though he did share that he’s keen on a new entry for the Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan series. Specifically, he wants to draw a story where Rohan travels to places that he’s never been before. Right now, there’s no word yet on when JOJOLANDS will begin serialization. Discover more anime news and info by following us on Twitter @epicstreamanime.
