James Wan’s upcoming Aquaman sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, is a highly anticipated film starring Jason Momoa and it has been slated for 2023 under the DC slate. Despite various issues involving Amber Heard’s Mera, the film pushes through next year.
Aquaman had its fair share of drama, action, adventure, and comedy combined but the actor playing the titular hero, Jason Momoa, teases in an interview with GQ that the upcoming sequel will be “a lot funnier.”
Momoa was careful not to spill anything, “I have a great time with… there’s a lot of…. It’s a throwback to… I don’t want to give too much away. But we really get to speed up what is going to happen to this earth, and it’s not because of aliens.”
Get ready to dive into the unknown full of laughter in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom starring Jason Momoa as the titular hero, Arthur Curry a.k.a Aquaman, Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Vince Regan as Atlan and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna.

After the controversy following the highly publicized defamation trial against her ex-husband to which she lost, Amber Heard is also expected to reprise her role as Mera but there are still a lot of speculations as to how much screen time will she have or will she be completely cut-off from the film.
James Wan will remain in the director’s chair of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and he will be joined by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick as the screenwriter for the movie.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is currently slated for a March 17, 2023 release following various reschedules and reshuffles by Warner Bros. On its original schedule, December 21, 2022, Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be taking place.
