You see, the iconic Marvel baddie (real name Herbert Edgar Wyndham) is traditionally caucasian in the comics before evolving into the crimson cosmic entity. Chukwudi’s iteration of the character looks nothing like the source material, from his features all the way to his costume. One fan pointed out the fact that the villain was racially bent in the MCU and even suggested Mark Hamill for the part.Director James Gunn, who has a rich knowledge of comics is well aware of his creative choice and according to him, his decision had nothing to do with race. Responding to the fan who questioned why the High Evolutionary is being played by a black actor, the DC Studios co-CEO simply said that Iwuji was a no-brainer casting choice because he’s the best actor he’s ever worked with.He wrote: “Because Chuk is the best actor I’ve ever worked with, that’s why.
