What Happens to Pochita in Chainsaw Man?
When Pochita meets Denji, the young boy offers him his blood to drink and recover. Pochita agreed to a contract with Denji wherein the two of them would stay together while hunting devils in order to live a decent life. While Pochita and Denji became acquainted, their way of life was so miserable that they only ate one slice of bread per day. Even after Denji sold some of his body parts, his father’s debt weighed heavily on the two of them every day. Despite this, Denji and Pochita remained together, keeping each other warm during the cold nights inside their run-down house.
Is Pochita Dead in Chainsaw Man?
No, Pochita is not yet dead in Chainsaw Man, despite the fact that the Zombie Devil tried to kill him and Denji. Instead of dying, Pochita became Denji’s heart, allowing him to fulfill his dream of living a normal life. When the yakuza assigned Denji a devil job, he immediately accepted it without hesitation. The yakuza informed Denji that they no longer require his services even though he has been loyal to them for a long time. Suddenly, the Zombie Devil appeared. The said devil has all the means necessary to eliminate Denji due to his work as a devil hunter. As it turns out, the yakuza entered into a contract with the Zombie Devil to get powers. Denji did everything he can to avoid getting killed by the Zombie Devil and his minions. Despite his efforts, the zombies managed to capture Denji, eventually cutting his body into pieces. While Denji thought he had died, Pochita remembered a previous conversation in which Denji offered what was left of his body to Pochita to devour when death arrived. After all, Denji was already on the verge of dying from the heart disease he inherited from his mother if it hadn’t been for the incident with the Zombie Devil. Not only did Pochita help Denji, but he also told Denji that he wanted to hear more about Denji’s future dreams. As a result, Denji transformed into the titular Chainsaw Man, eventually annihilating all the zombies controlled by the Zombie Devil.
Why Is Pochita in Dog Form in Chainsaw Man?
Pochita is reduced to near-death devil form prior to actually meeting Denji after his battle with the Four Horsemen and the Weapon Devils. His appearance is that of a small and cute orange canine-like devil with a chainsaw-like appendage protruding from the center of his head. In Hell, Pochita is feared by his fellow devils, earning him the title of The Devil that Devils Fear the Most and The Hero of Hell. Unlike other devils, Pochita, or the Chainsaw Devil, has the ability to erase devils from existence, as well as the fear that represents them. Worse, Pochita consumes them, preventing the devils from reincarnating. Some devils try to kill him because of his reputation, while others flee in fear. This eventually led to a clash with the Four Horsemen and the Weapon Devils, in which Pochita was badly injured and vanquished on Earth. The rest is history, as Denji meets the injured Pochita, and the two enter into a mutually beneficial contract.
