For those who are not aware, a canon is considered to be part of the official storyline. It can be a part of the main arc that has happened in the manga or light novel. It can also be a plotline that was confirmed by the creator. Throughout the past decade, all Dragon Ball movies have been considered canon. However, the older anime movies before were not. So where does Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero belong?
Is Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Canon?
It has been confirmed that Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is canon. It might seem that it was not considering that Dragon Ball Super focused on Goku but the upcoming film takes place after what happened in Dragon Ball Super: Broly as confirmed by the movie creators. For those who can remember, Dragon Ball Super: Broly was released 4 years ago. It was also the most recent film released before Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. In addition to that, the new movie will show Broly, Vegeta, and Goku training which is related to the ongoing series. This is why every Dragon Ball fan must make sure to watch this anime film to know what happens in the story.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Timeline
Aside from the fact that the new movie is a continuation of Dragon Ball Super: Broly, it has been confirmed during the 2021 NYCC panel that Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero will happen before the “End of Z” arc, which is the last arc of Dragon Ball Z. This technically means that Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero happens during the Z-fighters timeline. This might still be vague as there are a lot of arcs in between. To narrow it down, we have to focus on certain elements revealed so far. In Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Pan is still training with Piccolo which gives a hint that the timeline is close to the original finale of Dragon Ball Z. The trailer has shown Piccolo in his second new form called the Orange Piccolo which could confirm that Super Hero will take place before the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc. It might still be confusing for some, especially since there are a lot of arcs to consider but now the movie is released, viewers will be able to narrow it down to officially pinpoint where Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero takes place.
