What Can We Expect From To Your Eternity Season 2?
Based on Yoshitoki Ooima’s manga of the same name, Fumetsu no Anata E (or To Your Eternity in English) follows a mysterious immortal creature who was sent to Earth to evolve through emotional stimulation. Starting life as an orb, the creature soon turns into a wolf, then a shapeshifting boy. The boy’s name is Fushi, which means “immortal,” and his journey is both beautiful and heartbreaking. As Fushi comes across more living beings (both humans and animals), he grows, acquires languages, understands relationships, and discovers all the blessings and growing pains associated with love. Whenever someone close to him dies, Fushi gains the ability to acquire their form and use it whenever needed. But carrying one’s favorite people becomes hard work after a while, and being the only immortal one around is heartbreaking for both Fushi and the audience! Indeed, the beginning of Season 2 finds Fushi much changed after all his painful experiences. Not wanting any other loved ones to die because of the Nokkers’ endless pursuit of him, Fushi becomes a permanent resident on the island he and Pioran once shared. But with the Nokkers attacking innocents once more, and with the sudden appearance of a girl who claims to be the reincarnation of his nemesis, Fushi is forced out of his seclusion once more.
So, How Many Episodes Will To Your Eternity Season 2 Have?
As was the case with the first season, To Your Eternity Season 2 is going to feature a total of 20 episodes. While this is not unheard of, it is a rather unusual number. The vast majority of one-cour anime have 12 episodes with some having 11 or 13. On the other hand, two-cour anime tend to run for anything between 24 and 26 episodes, with 24 being the most common number of episodes. Another anime airing in the Fall 2022 season titled The Eminence in Shadow also surprised fans by announcing an unusual episode count of 20, suggesting that this might be becoming a little more common now. Fans of Fushi’s journeys will be pleased to know that the fantasy anime won’t be limited to the usual 11-13 episode count window. At the end of the day, episode numbers are a marketing convention and anime should be able to take as much space as they need to tell their story in the best possible way.
