What Is The Eminence in Shadow About?
Based on a light novel series written by Daisuke Aizawa and illustrated by Tōzai, The Eminence in Shadow tells the story of aspiring mastermind Cid Kagenou. We’ve seen plenty of isekai anime with an OP main character, but what if a character had no interest in becoming an overpowered hero? Cid Kagenou’s dream is to be a puppetmaster in the shadows; the mastermind behind every major event that happens. In his previous life in contemporary Japan, Cid didn’t achieve his dreams, but he gets another chance. Reincarnated in a magical world, Cid fakes an organization that he names “Shadow Garden” and recruits individuals to help him defeat a mysterious cult. Cid aims to be the mastermind behind everything that happens and show everyone the true eminence of shadows.
How Many Episodes Will The Eminence in Shadow Have?
The Eminence in Shadow features a marked difference from most anime that are currently airing as it will have a total of 20 episodes. Most anime have 12 to 13 episodes at most when they run for a single cour. Longer, two-cour anime might have 24 or 25 episodes as this allows them to fit within two anime seasons. Past anime used to stray from that quite a bit, featuring hundreds of episodes. To an extent, this is still the case with famously long and incredibly popular series. However, for the most part, even big names tend to stick to around 12 or 24 episodes and then have multiple seasons if one proves insufficient. 20-episode anime aren’t unheard of, but they’re relatively rare. To Your Eternity, another recent anime that will return for its second season this fall, also had 20 episodes, showing that cour restrictions are still not hard and fast rules. Some fans were surprised to hear the exact episode count of The Eminence in Shadow. But of course, the most important thing for any work is to take the space it needs to tell the best story possible, without concluding prematurely or dragging for no reason. At this point, it isn’t clear if this is all The Eminence in Shadow content we can expect. The isekai anime is doing really well right now, so much will depend on whether it continues to be popular with anime fans. Moreover, we need to wait and see just how much light novel and manga content is going to be covered by the anime to make a more informed prediction about the series moving forward.
