Spoiler Alert: There are Chainsaw Man manga spoilers ahead!
How Did Denji Become Chainsaw Man?
The moment Denji met the Chainsaw Devil in its dog form, his destiny in the world of the living was reshaped. The Chainsaw Devil, aka Pochita, is one of the strongest devils in Hell who fled into the world to escape its attackers, the Four Horsemen and the Weapon Devils. Denji chose to enter into a devil’s contract with Pochita for their mutual benefit. He can use Pochita’s abilities to make a living, while Pochita can survive after drinking Denji’s blood. Denji and Pochita became partners from this point forward. They kill and hunt devils together to pay off Denji’s inherited debt. Despite living in a run-down home, Denji and Pochita hope that their lives will flourish one day. One fateful day, the yakuza set up Denji to become the Zombie Devil’s dinner. The Zombie Devil wants him dead since he is a devil hunter. As a result, Denji and Pochita got hurt and were left to die in one of the trash bins in the area. Fortunately, Denji’s blood found its way into Pochita’s mouth, giving the Chainsaw Devil the opportunity to stand up for Denji and his dreams. Pochita eventually chose to become Denji’s heart in the hopes that he would one day realize his dreams. Denji then transforms into the Chainsaw Man, killing the Zombie Devil and his minions. How Does Denji Transform Into Chainsaw Man?
Denji can transform into Chainsaw Man by pulling the cord on his chest. This cord serves as a catalyst for his transformation because it is connected directly to Pochita, who now serves as his heart. Denji’s head morphs into a demonic mechanical shape after he pulls the cord. In addition to the chainsaw that protrudes from his head, he grows long, jagged fangs. His arms and legs can also grow chainsaws. In his full devil form, Pochita takes complete control of Denji’s body as the true Chainsaw Devil appears. Prior to the full transformation, the Chainsaw Devil’s intestines emerge from his stomach and wrap around him like a scarf. The Chainsaw Devil’s body then appears black, armored with plates, scales, and even spikes. In comparison to his hybrid form, his build is also bulkier. When Denji’s blood supply runs low, he can only grow a small chainsaw blade on his head. Nonetheless, as long as Denji can pull the cord on his body, he will not die and will instead regenerate repeatedly.
