In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hess was careful not to give too much of the finale spoiler away, but teased that the Daemon version we know of now, may not be the same Daemon they will be showing in the season finale. Read Hess’ comment below:
Just recently, Daemon fans had claimed him as ‘Internet Boyfriend’, baffling Hess at this unexpected development for the character bearing the most red flags. This may have also been one of the reasons to push the character on the edge. What worse deeds could we expect from Daemon in the finale? Although it is also safe to say that Daemon’s role would contribute greatly as to what season-ending House of the Dragon had been building up since its very beginning.
House of the Dragon has already departed quite a few times from George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood, one of them being the casting showrunners did for the family of Velaryon; which also means Daemon’s current role may swerve from how he was originally written in the book.
With Alicent gathering allies, the finale trailer is seemingly suggesting Daemon and Rhaenyra are set to gather allies of their own, in order to lead an ambush on King’s Landing himself. Fire and Blood showed a glimpse of Daemon having an affair with Mysaria (played by Sonoya Mizuno), which could explain a bit of a sneak peek as to how Daemon’s role is bound to change, as show producer claimed. This potential affair could stem from Episode 9’s incident where Mysaria’s base of operations burned to the ground.
House of the Dragon Episode 10: The Black Queen will premiere on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at 9:00 PM EST.
