In a recent interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast during a live recording in New York City (via Variety), Cavill publicly spoke for the first time regarding his recent return as Superman where he teased that he will have a more “joyful” take on the character when he appears in future projects. “The character means so much to me. It’s been five years now. I never gave up hope. It’s amazing to be here now talking about it again. There is such a bright future ahead for the character. I’m so excited to tell a story with an enormously joyful Superman,” he said.
The actor also discussed the long wait that he endured before it became official that he will be returning to the role. He noted, “I told myself I’m gonna let it sit and simmer in the background. I never lost hope, that was the key for me.” When asked about the status of his reported new solo Superman movie and whether there is already a director and writer attached, he simply answered, “You know I can’t tell you that.” It is really wonderful to see that Cavill is returning to the role of Superman since it felt like it was never going to happen again after the performances of the Zack Snyder-helmed films in which he previously starred. Now, his Black Adam cameo has solidified his newfound status in the DCU. Obviously, the question now is what will be his next step in the DCU after his recent cameo. Will we see him pop again for a cameo in another film? Is it going to be the long-gestated Black Adam vs. Superman movie? Is it the solo Superman movie that is now in development? For now, let’s just wait and see. Also Read: Zack Snyder Teases Working with Henry Cavill ‘In The Future’; DCU Reunion Incoming? Black Adam is now showing in theaters everywhere.
