The 42-minute special presentation has everything a fan would want in a James Gunn MCU project — action, humor, music, cameos, and references only eagle-eyed viewers would notice. Speaking of, one fan is convinced that the GOTG Holiday Special included a surprising Star Wars easter egg.Twitter user Daniel Shea speculates that the green toy Star-Lord gifted Yondu was actually The Mandalorian’s Grogu aka Baby Yoda. When he asked Gunn to confirm whether the special actually featured a supposed nod to the Force-wielding fellow, the director quickly dismissed the idea.Responding to the question, Gunn explained the backstory of the said toy, revealing that it’s the same figurine the famed Ravager had in the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films. He wrote: “Lord no. SPOILER… That’s the toy Yondu has had on his dashboard in both Guardians movies… and that he was buried with.” Check it out below: Also Read: James Gunn Explains Decision to Gender Swap New Guardians of the Galaxy CharacterAs interesting as it could have been, the timelines obviously don’t match as Quill spent his childhood in the 1980s while Baby Yoda wasn’t introduced to the world of Star Wars until 2019. Now that I think about it though, it would have been neat if the special did include a Star Wars reference. I guess Mark Hamill’s alleged cameo counts as one, although it’s also been debunked. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is now streaming on Disney+.
