In the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Mantis and Drax set out to find the perfect gift for Peter Quill after learning how Yondu Udonta ruined Christmas for Peter as a child. They decide to bring him Kevin Bacon but are disappointed to find out that he is just an actor and not the hero they expected. Still, it was a festive feature as the Guardians gave each other presents. The best gift in the feature was undoubtedly the one for Rocket, who finally got Bucky Barnes’ vibranium arm. Yes, the same one he had wanted in Avengers: Infinity War and vowed to take. Perhaps the awesome part of it is that the present came from Nebula.
There is little doubt that the brief interaction between Rocket and Bucky was one of the funniest exchanges in Avengers: Infinity War, and also a part of a running joke about Rocket’s obsession with prosthetic body parts. The idea that Nebula is the one who gives it to him somehow proves that they truly bonded when every other Guardian was Blipped away by Thanos’ snap. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special featured Kevin Bacon playing a fictional version of himself and he truly hams it up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe special feature. Although it is unclear if Bacon will be brought back in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it would be an awesome treat. Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is now streaming on Disney+. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to premiere in theaters on May 5, 2023.
