Chris Hemsworth recently spoke to Vanity Fair about his new film, admitting that Furiosa was a project worthy of his time. “Now, if something’s going to pull me away from my family and my kids, it’s got to be a positive, constructive, collective experience,” he said. “I shot with [director] George Miller on the new prequel to Fury Road, part of the Mad Max saga. I said to my agent, ‘That’s where I want to spend my work hours; with someone who is kind and collaborative and interesting.”
Hemsworth also discussed his character Dr. Dementus, describing the villain as “a very complicated, somewhat evil individual.” “Yeah, you don’t believe you’re evil though,” Hemsworth said about Dementus. “I’m saying that from the outset, I found ways to defend his actions and empathize and understand him as I had to. That was my job. But yeah, there’s a light and a darkness to him that I haven’t played with before.” It’s an interesting take on the villain and although we have yet to find out how he will antagonize Anya Taylor-Joy’s Furiosa, there is little doubt that Hemsworth will deliver an impressive performance. Furiosa will also star Tom Burke, Nathan Jones, and Angus Sampson. The Max Max: Fury Road prequel recently concluded production and is scheduled for release on May 24, 2024.
