First Kill is Netflix’s new teen vampire series based on Victoria ‘V.E.’ Schwab’s short story Vampires Never Get Old: Tales With Fresh Bite, a New York Times best seller. Netflix first announced the series back in 2020 and will finally hit the screens this June. Here is everything we know so far about the series.
First Kill Release Date: When Will the Netflix Series Come Out?
First Kill premiered on June 10, 2022, on Netflix. The series has eight episodes, with all of the episodes debuting on the same day.
First Kill Cancellation
First Kill will unfortunately not be renewed for a second season. Netflix may have canceled the series because it did not meet the viewing threshold that justified the cost of the production. First Kill peaked at No.3 and earned 100 million hours of viewership in its first 28 days.
First Kill Cast: Who are the Actors Included in the Series?
Sarah Catherine Hook, who acted in The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It, will play Juliette Fairmont, a teenage vampire. Juliette meets and falls in love with Calliope, played by Iman Lewis from Eighth Grade, and The Forty-Year-Old Version, a vampire hunter. The other characters in the show are Elizabeth Mitchell as Margot, Will Swenson as Sebastian, and Aubin Wise as Talia. We will also see Jason R Moore as Jack, Grace Dzienny as Elinor, and Philip Mullings Jr. as Theo, with Dylan McNamara as Oliver and Dominic Goodman as Apollo.
First Kill Crew: Who are the Creatives Behind the Scenes?
Jet Wilkinson is set to direct the first two episodes of Netflix’s First Kill. V.E. Schwab and Felicia D. Henderson will write the screenplay of the show. Henderson will also be the showrunner while also being a producer alongside Schwab, Emma Roberts, and the Bellerist Productions. In her interview with Shadow and Act, Henderson described how she was greatly influenced by her goddaughter’s coming-out journey. This is what urged her to look into the story of First Kill.
First Kill Plot: What Will be the Plot of the Series?
Coming of age and our first loves often come hand in hand, but things aren’t that simple for Juliette and Calliope. Juliette is the shy girl next door who hails from a family of vampires. As she grows older, her family starts to pressure her to make her first kill to become a fully-initiated vampire, but Juliette doesn’t want to become a monster. In comes Calliope, a strong and courageous you girl who secretly comes from a long line of monster hunters. Calliope was trained her whole life to join in her family’s mission, but to become a part of that world, she has to make her first kill. As Juliette and Calliope place a target on each other’s back, will they follow the fate their families have bestowed upon them, or will they go against tradition to forge their destinies while fighting for love along the way?
