Deadline has reported that Game of Thrones and Obi-Wan Kenobi star Indira Varma is joining the cast of Dune: The Sisterhood. She will play Empress Natalya, who is described as “a formidable royal who united thousands of worlds in her marriage to Emperor Corrino.” The series is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides (as depicted in Dune) and it will follow the Harkonnen Sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit.
Diane Ademu-John serves as the creator, writer, co-showrunner and executive producer of the series. Johan Renck is set to direct the first episode and serve as executive producer as well. Denis Villeneuve, who directs the Dune films, is also part of the executive producing team. Emily Watson and Shirley Henderson are already confirmed to star in the series. It is exciting to hear that Varma is going to be part of the series. Not only she is a talented actress, but she is also slowly becoming a staple of different fantasy/science-fiction franchises. It also sounds like an interesting role for her to play based on the description. It is curious to see which other actors they’ll cast in the series.
