The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards recently unveiled their list of nominations across hundreds of categories where Boseman was named as one of the nominees in the Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance category for his work in What If…? This is the late actor’s first-ever Emmy nomination in his career.
Boseman will be competing against his fellow What If…? star Jeffrey Wright (who voices The Watcher) as well as other actors such as F. Murray Abraham (Moon Knight), Julie Andrews (Bridgerton), Maya Rudolph (Big Mouth), Stanley Tucci (Central Park), and fellow posthumous nominee Jessica Walter (Archer).
Besides the two nominations in the Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance category, What If…? also received a nomination in Outstanding Animated Program, making it the only MCU series to receive a nod in a major series category as the live-action shows failed to do so in their respective eligible categories.
It is great to hear that Boseman received posthumous recognition for his work in the series as it is a testament to his talent as a performer. It is also nice that they honored the late actor’s last performance of his career and it would be interesting to see if the voters at the Television Academy will also hand him the award.
