At Anime Expo 2022, Viz Media showed several exclusive interviews with Bleach staff and cast, among them is an interview with creator Tite Kubo himself. Finally, Viz Media shared the full interview on its official Twitter, and it features Kubo sharing several key pieces of information about the upcoming anime. When asked about what to expect in the anime, Kubo shared that he didn’t go “all-out” with battle scenes while writing earlier parts of the manga when the anime series was airing. “While the series was airing on television, I was drawing the manga with television guidelines and restrictions in mind,” said Kubo. “So I didn’t go all-out for various things, like the battle scenes.” Given that work on Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War arc began around the time the anime series was ending, Kubo was able to make the final arc more brutal and much darker. “I drew Thousand-Year Blood War without having to worry about any of that,” followed Kubo. “Instead, I was worried that the scenes might be too heavy if it was ever animated. And I didn’t want them to be cut from the anime.” While he was concerned about the brutal parts getting cut, thankfully, this wasn’t the case as Kubo said that he is “confident that this arc will be animated faithfully without those heavier scenes being cut.” In the interview, Kubo also shared that he is excited for fans to see the anime as it promises to be the biggest and most exciting arc yet. He also shared how he is looking forward to seeing it for himself, especially the battle between Yhwach and Genryusai. Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is an adaptation of the Bleach manga’s final arc which covers the final volumes. The original Bleach anime aired from October 2004 to March 2012. While the anime did have an ending, it wasn’t a proper conclusion as the Bleach manga continued with its final arc. Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War is set to premiere in October 2022.
