For the uninitiated, the studio made drastic changes to Namor’s origin and injected new flair into the character which surprisingly works. Turns out, DC’s Aquaman forced Marvel to come up with an entirely different backstory for the Namor character who is now of Aztec descent. The MCU version of the underwater hero will now be ruling the fictional city of Talocan, instead of his original kingdom of Atlantis. Hasbro’s upcoming action figure offers new information about the character, played by Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta. The description (via The Direct) reads: “The ruler of Talocan, an ancient civilization hidden in the depths of the ocean, Namor will stop at nothing to protect his people.“Also Read: Black Panther Star Letitia Wright Still Haunted by Anti-Vax ControversyWhile Namor did technically make his debut two years before Aquaman’s creation, it can’t be denied that Arthur Curry ended up becoming the more popular character between the two and even got his movie before the Sub-Mariner. Obviously, those who have little to no knowledge of comic books would automatically assume that Namor is just a rip-off of the Aquaman character so I guess Marvel made the right call by changing things up.Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits cinemas on November 11, 2022.
