Now that The Batman is out and introduced the DC universe in full blast, interest in the other DC films about to come out has risen, and Black Adam is back under the limelight. Black Adam first appeared in 1945’s Marvel Family #1 from Fawcett Comics. He was supposed to be a one-time villain, dying and fading out of the scene, but his story became the perfect precursor for his reappearance in later comic books, turning him from guest villain to arch-nemesis. In the comic books, Black Adam came billions of years before the events in Shazam! The Wizard Shazam was looking for a successor to protect ancient Egypt. The Wizard found Teth Adam in fictional Kahndaq, and he then proceeds to imbue Teth Adam with powers similar to that of Shazam. The major difference is that Adam draws his powers from ancient Egyptian Gods. Teth Adam befriends other entities and supernatural powers, but after his homeland is destroyed by Akh-Ton, who wields the Orb of Ra, he loses control and goes wild. This destruction forces the Wizard to trap him in a scarab, where he remains until modern times.
