In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia addressed the next step that they’re planning for Superman in the DCEU. While they are indeed planning for him to face off against Black Adam, they do have a “long form” plan instead of just being a one-off fight between them. “It’s never been about a one-off or just about a fight. No, it’s about so much more than that. We really want to craft a long form of storytelling and show that these two characters exist in the same universe and are going to have to deal with each other often, either on the same or opposite sides,” he said.
“Hopefully they’re going to clash at some point, but it’s not just about a ‘one fight’ situation. That was never our dream. That does not reward the fans. Fans want to feel a journey between these guys knowing that these guys exist in the same universe.” It is interesting to see what exactly they have in store for their “long form of storytelling” for the face-off between the two heroes in the future of the DCEU, which was also teased by the recent film’s post-credits scene. It is also exciting to learn that it’s going to take multiple projects and not just a one-shot event. We also know now that Warner Bros. is currently developing a Man of Steel sequel with Cavill reprising the role which is a sign that the studio is going all in on focusing their flagship superhero franchise on Superman again in the future. Either way, fans can celebrate at the very least that Superman is officially back and there’s more to come for him.
